oan has a studio and offers classes there on a regular basis.  If you are interested, give her a call.  Here are the directions to the studioThe studio is on Pine Street in Florence. If you head toward Cooley Dick, as you come up to the Northampton High School, take that left and follow this road to the end. You are then facing the Arts & Industry building.   Joan is on the second floor, North end. You can see the Smart Moves Pilates and Fitness signs in the windows as you drive up.
fyi Also from Joan:  I also wanted to let folks know that the classes I offer at my studio.   I teach abs classes on Tues at 4:45 PM and Sat at 8 AM. I do a strength conditioning class on Tuesday, 4:45 PM. On Saturday morning at 8:30 I teach a high energy step and strength class that is 75 mins! So these are other options if the kids have a way to get over to the studio on Pine Street in Florence. If you head toward Cooley Dick, as you come up to the Northampton High School, take that left and follow this road to the end. You are then facing the Arts & Industry building. I am on the second floor, North end. You can see the Smart Moves Pilates and Fitness signs in the windows as you drive up.
Those of you who asked about making up practice time:  The best practice make-up is to play a match.  Playing a team member is always helpful in determining the singles line-up.  If you want to play someone outside of the team, I would be pleased to give you some names.
fyi Another option:  Deedie Steele is offering a great opportunity to any of you that are interested in drilling and play.  One day a week (your choice) for an hour and one half, Deedie will provide a great workout.  The cost will be $7/person.

Oct5/10:30am upon request Sense of a Goose
When you see geese flying along in “V” formation, you might consider what science has discovered about why they fly that way. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in “V” formation, the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own. People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.  When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front.  If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in formation with those people who are headed the same direction we are.  When the head goose gets tired, it rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point. It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs, whether with people or with geese flying South. Another interesting fact in geese society is they geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

"Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful, and you will accomplish your objective. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
